About Himmafushi

Maafushi Island is one of the most beautiful and well-known islands in the Maldives. It's located about 27 km away from Male, in Kaafu Atoll, which is a convenient place to visit. The island itself has over 2700 residents and it's an idyllic destination that strikes a perfect balance between life experiences or convenience for visitors! Why Maldives and Maafushi in particular has become a hotspot for the independent traveller is because of its dive centers, beaches, hotels and guesthouses. You can even drink alcohol on floating bars just outside the harbour or take day trips to resorts that are welcoming of semi-clad sunbarers which is how many people like them before they head back into town.

HOW TO GET IN:

Himafushi you can take a private boat or a seaplane. The seaplane is the best way to travel as it allows you to see the coral reefs and the island from above. The seaplane also comes with a dinner cruise which is a perfect way to end your night on the island.

What to see and do

The most popular form of transport across different parts of island is scooters or motorbikes while locals also use bicycles to move around. For this purpose, rental services are developed or you can contact your guesthouse or hotel for it.

ACTIVITIES AND PLACES TO LOOK FORWARD TO

There are many attractions on the island of Himafushi. • Coral reefs: You will not be able to experience the true nature of the coral reefs of the island of Himafushi without visiting the most famous one, the Great Coral Reefs of Maldives. This is the largest coral reef system in the world. The Himafushi is a very beautiful island with a large variety of beautiful coral reefs. The coral reefs of the Himafushi are a UNESCO World Heritage. The reefs of the Himafushi host a large number of tropical fish and other marine life. Some of the fishes that live in the coral reefs of the Himafushi are the Blue pleco, Spanish sardine, White snapper, Sting ray, Ligurian perch, and many more. • Other activities: You can go snorkelling, scuba diving, or even go out for sunset dinner. You can also visit the quaint towns on the island. If you are lucky enough you may even see a Himafushi man walking around in a dress. However, these are not the main activities on the island. You may also take a Himafushi spiritual retreat. • Historical places, museums: There are many museums on the island of Himafushi. The most famous one is the Maritime Archaeological Museum. This museum exhibits the remains of ancient Maldivian boats, canoes, and other maritime objects. This museum is located in the town of Malé. Another important museum in the city of Malé is the National Museum. This museum is the largest in the country and houses a large collection of Maldivian and foreign art and cultural artifacts.

WHERE TO STAY:

You can stay on the island of Himafushi or on the nearby islands of Addu and Huraa. When you stay on the island of Himafushi you will definitely want to stay at one of the resorts. However, if you want to stay on an island with a unique culture and a long history than you should stay at the island of Addu. Main Resorts: The main resorts on the island are Atlantis, Royal Malé, and Castle. You can stay at the other resorts as well depending on your budget. However, when staying at the main resorts you can expect nice rooms with balconies or apatios. If you are lucky enough you may even see the sea in front of the room. The beach is very nice as well with coral reefs and plenty of life. The best resort There are many resorts on the island of Himafushi. However, the best one is definitely Atlantis. This is the most expensive resort on the island with a stay of four nights and three days. This resort has plenty of room for guests, has an excellent design, and is very luxurious. You will not be disappointed with a stay at this resort.
